I did the eldest TOO EARLY. Age 9, I think. I forgot how, indeed, heavy they are. She loved the first two books (as we all do), but I certainly had to gently do some live edits while reading aloud just because of language and sex talk, to say nothing of the themes.
I think I'm holding the younger one back until she's 11.

That's about the right age--I think that's when I read them both, because my dad had an omnibus edition of Ender's Game and Speaker.
This time I'm going to do a live edit of Speaker so the whole thing wraps up and nobody asks me to read Xenocide. :P
